Jan Gratz is an award winning senior and family photographer who owns a boutique photography studio in the Annapolis area.  She specializes in high school senior and family portraits as well as professional headshots. Jan's work has been featured in various publications, including Shutter Magazine, Senior Style Guide, Senior Year Magazine, Senior Guys Style, Senior Muse and the Lifestyles of Annapolis magazine.  She was awarded the 2016 Hot 100 award for the Senior Style Guide, which premiers the top senior photographers across the globe. She has achieved her Master Photographer Accreditation through The Portrait Masters program. 

There are no fake smiles in pictures by Jan.  She takes the time to get to know her clients, makes them comfortable and gets to know their essence and to show a person’s soul in her portraits… who they are, who their family is and their connection with each other.  A special moment for Jan is being able to capture a high school senior’s spirit, to make them laugh and capture that big all out smile one second and their quiet peaceful look the next.  Custom shoots may include an amazing sunset on the Chesapeake Bay, sailboating and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis, or out in the country with rustic tobacco barns and open fields. 

Being a mom herself, she can relate to the overwhelming emotions parenting brings from the minute your children are born to the minute they walk across that stage when they graduate from high school. That drew her to what she does today for other moms, dads and their families. She creates images that touch them, that stop time for just a bit and allow them to remember that wonderful time in their family’s life.
